Code of Conduct

The Convention is organised by the The GAMMA.CON Society. All attendees present at the Convention agree upon entry to comply with this Code of Conduct and accept all of its conditions. Please note that if any attendees fail to comply with the Code of Conduct they may be asked to leave the convention without refund or without right to re-entry and may result in being banning/blacklisting from future GAMMA.CON events.

 

Filming and Photography

Photographs and video footage of attendees is generally allowed but may be restricted in certain areas of the convention floor to better facilitate activities and to prevent creating hazards.
Attendees should also be aware that footage of the Convention and attendees is gathered by staff members, in areas including public areas, events, and panels, and may be used in a highlights tape, for advertising or for other use. Entry into GAMMA.CON constitutes consent to be filmed or photographed by GAMMA.CON staff or approved industry or media during the Convention without compensation to you. Entry into GAMMA.CON constitutes a grant of rights to The GAMMA.CON Society Inc to reproduce, display, distribute, perform, create derivative works from and otherwise use any media derived at the Convention. These rules apply to all Convention attendees.
Specific rules and restrictions regarding video, audio, and photography may apply to certain events within the Convention. You must comply with all directions or requests from GAMMA.CON staff regarding restrictions at any event or in any area at the convention.
Please use common courtesy and make verbal requests before the photographing and/or filming of individuals or costumes. You will respect an attendee's rights to not be photographed or to be recorded.
Photographing or filming GAMMA.CON staff or attendees for the purpose of sale or publication to the press is strictly forbidden unless you have been given permission written by The GAMMA.CON Society.
If images are to be published on personal web page, social media or similar internet archive, please identify all media from GAMMA.CON events as GAMMA.CON events.
Inappropriate use of photography or video technology may be constituted as harassment of attendees. The GAMMA.CON Society Inc reserves the right at its sole discretion to determine whether any behaviour involving the use of photography or video technology constitutes harassment. If The GAMMA.CON Society Inc determines that you are inappropriately using photography or video technology you may be asked to leave the convention without refund or without right to re-entry and may result in being banning/blacklisting from future GAMMA.CON events.

 

Food and Drink

Food and drink items purchased externally are not to be brought into GAMMA.CON, only food and drink items purchased on site are allowed to be consumed within GAMMA.CON.
Food and drink items are not allowed inside screening areas or near electronic equipment such as video game consoles and TVs.
If you are found to be consuming food items outside of designated areas you will be asked to leave the area while eating/drinking, but you may return once finished.

 

Safety

Dangerous activities will not be tolerated. This includes aggressive actions towards other attendees, fighting, offensive behaviour, indecent exposure, possession of weapons and other obscenities which could result in substantial risk or harm to persons or property.
Any violation of this Code of Conduct which involves dangerous activities or activities prohibited by law, will result in the notification of the proper authorities, eviction from the convention without refund and without right to re-entry and you will being denied entry to future GAMMA.CON events.
GAMMA.CON accepts no liability for any injuries, damages or loss caused by these activities. In the case of an emergency evacuation or situation please follow official procedures.
No glass, weapons, fireworks, illicit drugs or alcohol will be allowed into the venue and surrounding area. GAMMA.CON does NOT tolerate the use or abuse of illegal substances in or around the convention and/or associated events.
No smoking is permitted inside the venue. Designated smoking areas are available in some outside areas and smoking is permitted at least 10 metres away from buildings, doors, windows, air intakes, etc.
Unauthorised, alteration, removal, tampering, or bypassing of barriers and crowd control structures will not be tolerated. Persons found doing so may be asked to leave the convention without refund or without right to re-entry and may result in being banning/blacklisting from future GAMMA.CON events.

 

Security Policy

Security will be present at the Convention to ensure the safety of the attendees, staff, volunteers and venue. Security will patrol the event for general offences and possible criminal activity. General offences are handled by security personnel. Security personnel may ask you to leave the Convention and/or associated events for endangering the safety of the attendees, staff, volunteers, venue or yourself.

 

Costumes and Props

GAMMA.CON reserves the right to deem a costume you are wearing unacceptable and request you to make modifications as necessary. If you refuse to make the modifications requested, GAMMA.CON reserves the right to refuse entry to you and/or prevent you from entering in future events. Public exposure of genitalia, buttocks, breast or chest area is not permitted.
GAMMA.CON reserves the right to deny entry to anyone carrying a prop that can be regarded as a weapon. GAMMA.CON defines a weapon as being any item which is large, narrows to a point, sharp or heavy enough to cause possible harm or any item which could cause harm to other attendees or property. Examples of what is NOT allowed:

  • Bladed or edged weapons
  • Metal of any kind
  • Firearms
  • Explosives
  • Heavy or sharp wooden weapons
  • Liquid dispensing weapons
  • Items that shoot a projectile
  • Items that look like a weapon in the opinion of the security staff
  • Any item GAMMA.CON, security, the venue or law deems illegal or overly harmful

Props that are not deemed weapons may be brought to the Convention and used during the Costume Competition, but cannot be carried during the normal course of the convention. Upon entry to the Convention you will be asked to "check-in" your props, whether or not you think they are dangerous. You will be able to access your props for photo shoots and the Costume Competition only.

 

Harassment

GAMMA.CON is committed to make sure to ensure that attendees have an awesome day out. Therefore if any kind of harassment occurs at any GAMMA.CON event, it will not be tolerated. Anyone who harasses another attendee, venue staff member or GAMMA.CON staff member may be asked to leave the convention without refund or without right to re-entry and may result in being banning/blacklisting from future GAMMA.CON events.

 

Epilepsy Warning

Some people are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness when exposed to certain flashing lights or light patterns. Such people may have a seizure while watching certain monitor images or playing certain video games. This may happen even if the person has no medical history of epilepsy or has never had any epileptic seizures. The GAMMA.CON Society Inc recommends if you or anyone in your family has ever had symptoms related to epilepsy (seizures or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flashing lights, consult your doctor prior to participating in video game events or screening. If you experience any of the following symptoms: dizziness, blurred vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of consciousness, disorientation, any involuntary movement or convulsion, while playing a video game or watching a screening, IMMEDIATELY discontinue the activity and consult your doctor.
