GAMMA.CON wants you!

GAMMA.CON wants YOU!

The wheels are starting to turn for GAMMA.CON 2016 and we’re looking for some cool people to join the organising committee to take Canberra Pop-Culture to the next level! We are looking for people to fill the following positions:

Tabletop Co-ordinator

Responsible for co-ordinating all tabletop activities such as tournaments and freeplay areas. Including but not limited to board games, card games and miniatures. Experience with tabletop games, demonstrated TOing ability and knowledge of local community groups is ideal. Will work closely with Events Co-ordinator and Sponsorship Co-ordinator.

Volunteer Co-ordinator

Responsible for organising volunteers for GAMMA.CON 2016. Will need to organise multistage recruitment and training for volunteers in the months preceding GAMMA.CON for both pre-GAMMA.CON tasks and convention-day tasks. Will also need to schedule volunteer shifts for set up, running of and pack down for GAMMA.CON 2016 and other volunteer related events.

Vendor/Artist Co-ordinator

Responsible for organising Vendors, Artists, Fantraders, Exhibitors, Community groups and other stallholders for GAMMA.CON 2016. Needs to be a personable and highly organised individual able to effectively manage the multitude of differing stall holders and stall holder types.

Logistics Officer

Responsible for organising the logistics for GAMMA.CON 2016 and co-ordinating with external companies. Including but not limited to: venue, equipment, A/V, filmography/videography, security/first aid/catering. Knowledge of or experience with A/V, filmography, venue layout design etc desirable but not required.

Social Media Officer

Responsible for operating GAMMA.CON’s Social Media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram etc. Ability to interact on social platforms in a positive and responsible fashion is a necessity as well as top quality spelling, punctuation and grammar skills.

Website Officer

Responsible for operating and maintaining GAMMA.CON’s website. Needs to know how to build, upgrade and maintain webservices.

Screenings Co-ordinator

Responsible for co-ordinating the Screenings room(s) at GAMMA.CON 2016. May be combinable with other position/tasks within GAMMA.CON Comittee

External Events Co-ordinator

Responsible for organising GAMMA.CON activities at other events e.g. Otakufest, SMASH, AVCON

Legal Officer

Responsible for maintaining GAMMA.CON’s legal activities including but not limited to incorporation, trademark, insurance, contract review etc. Individual needs to have a high attention to detail.

General Committee Requirements:

In addition to their specific responsibilites, all Committee members do also need to have

  •           Ability to attend regular Committee meetings. These are initially monthly but become more frequent as Convention date approaches
  •           Knowledge and/or enthusiasm about some aspect of pop-culture e.g. comics, anime, gaming, sci-fi, whatever etc
  •           Willingness to help other organisers out with tasks as required and volunteer to help out with unforeseen tasks that arise.
  •           A Facebook account
  •           A Working With Vulnerable People Card (WWVP) [Note- these are easy to get and free for volunteers!]
  •           General awesomeness

Send it to the GAMMA.CON Secretary by 7pm 15th of August at secretary@gammacon.org.au. Interviews to be held on August 22nd unless otherwise organised.
